    • Healthy weight – Obese people are observed to have fatty liver. In order to have a healthy liver, it is important to maintain a healthy body weight.
    • Diet rich in fiber and unsaturated fats – A healthy liver requires diet rich in fiber from fresh fruits and vegetables. Oil used for cooking should be unsaturated fats rather than saturated fats.Processed food which includes chips, canned food etc. should be avoided as they contain chemicals which are harmful for the liver
    • Exercise regularly – Following an exercise regimen helps in burning triglycerides and can reduce fatty liver. It has been proved that an exercise of 2hrs and 30minutes daily helps in keeping liver fit and increasing the liver enzymes.
    • Avoid alcohol/drugs – Alcohol damages liver cells and can create other health problems, so you should consult doctor to know the quantity of alcohol your body can resist.Similarly,habit forming drugs substances such as cocaine, marijuana or opioid analgesics used for purpose other than medical affects liver and should not be consumed.
    • Be careful while using certain medicines- Self prescription in case of medicines should not be done. Over dosage or miscalculated dosage of certain medicines like acetaminophen causes liver damage and is responsible for deaths of many people
    • Avoid Toxins – Smoking (active/passive) and being in contact of substances such as insecticides, chemicals etc. harms the liver. Thus, it is important to take precautions while using them.

    • Wash your hands - Follow basic hygiene steps like washing hands after using bathroom and before preparing or having food. Unhygienic practices lead to diseases like Hepatitis B or C.
    • Practice safe sex. – Use contraceptives while doing sex, unprotected sex or sex with multiple partners may lead to hepatitis B or C.
    • Get Vaccinated – Precaution is always better than cure. It is important to get vaccinated for the disease for which vaccination is available. Currently, it is available for hepatitis B and C.
